Performance evaluation of a novel cross-laminated timber made from flattened bamboo and wood lumber

چکیده

A novel flattened bamboo-wood composite cross-laminated timber (CCLT) made from bamboo and hemlock lumber was developed, its mechanical performance investigated quantified in this work. The results demonstrated that the CCLT columns control CLT counterparts had nearly equal axial compression strength, but yielded a higher modulus of elasticity (MOE). Additionally, behaviors were not significantly affected by height. Compared with CLT, exhibited slightly flatwise bending MOE strength major direction. Furthermore, under edgewise 17.3% less 16.2% greater than those bending, respectively. load-carrying capacity mainly governed interfacial failure between wood, which no rolling shear observed. Those features are unique for new engineered applications.

A low-technology approach toward fabrication of Laminated Bamboo Lumber

Depletion of natural resources has become a major concern in today’s modern industrialized world centering much attention on sustainability of the built environment and sustainable alternatives to current development and construction practices. In the green building community, strong interest lies in natural and renewable building materials that can be used in structural applications. Just such...

Development of Laminated Bamboo Lumber: Review of Processing, Performance, and Economical Considerations

As focus is drawn toward more sustainable construction practices, use of bamboo as a structural building material is growing as a topic of interest. It is highly renewable, has low-embodied energy, and has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of steel, concrete, and timber. Composite lumber made from bamboo, termed laminated bamboo lumber (LBL), has gained the particular interest of researchers...

Surface Roughness of Thin Wood Veneers Sliced from Laminated Green Wood Lumber

Freshly-felled Chinese fir (Cunninghamia lanceolate), Masson Pine (Pinus massoniana) and Camphor Tree (Cinnamomum camphora) logs were reconstituted to form laminated lumber with moisture content above fiber saturation point by slicing, finger-jointing, gluing, and cold-pressing processes. The laminated lumber was then sliced into wood veneers, which were air-dried to about 15% moisture content....
